Photos By: Johnny B.
August 27 - Solon Springs, WI driver, Brady Smith, found Hartford (MI) Motor Speedway to his liking, grabbing the feature win in The Lane 46 Presented By K&N Filters in his first ever visit to the track. Smith was forced to transfer to the ALMS sanctioned 46 lap main event by winning the B-feature after finishing short of a transfer position in his heat. Advancing from the 19th starting slot, "The Prodigy" worked his way to the front, passing Curtis Roberts to take the lead on lap 19 in the caution filled nightcap. Smith tallied up $46 for each lap he lead, banking over $5800 for his night's work. Roberts, who races out of Coleman, MI, held second at the finish and was trailed by Hartford regulars Phil Ausra, JR Hotovy and Curt Spalding. Support division features were won by Bobby Hinkle in the UMP Stock Cars and Brian Ruhlman in the UMP Modifieds. After winning the mod feature, Ruhlman's night took a turn for the worse when he was involved in an early mishap in the Lane 46, finding his car on top of the backstretch guard rail with significant damage. Ruhlman, who is the current ALMS point leader, sustained no injuries.
